‎"A Friendship That Found Its Way Back" ‎

I remember those days, when we were just kids, running around, playing like the world revolved only around us. We were inseparable—always together. We shared the same seat in school. We were best friends.

‎Then the most shocking thing happened. It came unexpectedly. She left—not by her own choice, but she was moved to another school. It hurt real bad. At that point, I was just a little girl, but I already knew what it meant to be separated from someone you spend almost the whole day with. The hours slowly turned into days, days into weeks, weeks into months. I never really knew it would turn into years. The only thing I knew was that I never forgot her.

‎She was always in my thoughts. I brought her up in conversations at home so much that everyone knew her. When I got my first phone, the thought of her came rushing in. I started reminiscing about the memories we shared. Then I had a thought—You have a phone now, why not find her?

‎I searched for her on Facebook, but I couldn't find her. Still, I didn’t give up. I had faith that we would come in contact once again.

‎I kept searching. Her thoughts kept burning deep inside my heart. Then suddenly, like a gentle push, the idea hit me—Facebook isn’t the only social media app… try Instagram. And that’s what I did. I searched with all hope in my heart, and I don’t know how to explain the kind of joy I felt when I typed in her name and it popped up.

‎I checked her profile picture, and immediately I saw her face, I remembered how she looked back then. There was no difference. I still saw my best friend—Amarachi. I was so elated. The next morning, I ran to show my mum and brother. “I found her! I FOUND HER!!!!”

‎When I saw that picture and knew it was her, I didn’t wait a second to send her a message. It took two days before I saw her reply, but when I did—ahhh—it was so heartwarming. She remembered me. Amarachi remembered me. She was so happy to hear from me. She missed me, just like I missed her.

‎I kept revisiting that message, trying to fully feel that happiness again. I never forgot her, and she never forgot me. That was the happiest I’ve ever been.

‎Now we have each other back, and this friendship is going to last till eternity.
