Lisa’s Journey: From Loss To Love
It was a cold winter night. Lisa sat on a cushion, her mind swerving through the past. Her life used to be so beautiful. She had everything one could ever wish for—good parents, a stable income, food on the table, and friends who were like family.
But what happened?
It is a very sad story. Sit still and get ready to go on a ride through a rollercoaster of emotions.
Lisa was a very pretty girl. She was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Ikenna. They were both business tycoons, and they all lived together as one big happy family. Lisa attended one of the best schools in Abuja because that was where they were based. You would think she had everything… so what could have possibly gone wrong?
Well, it all started the day her dad’s shops got burnt. It wasn’t something ordinary, because how could all his shops burn on the same day and at the same time?
Mr. Ikenna was devastated. He slowly began to pour all his frustration on his family—especially Lisa, who was just eight years old at the time. Whenever she went close to him, he barked at her and told her never to come near him again.
Lisa would run to her mother and cry her eyes out because she could never understand why her dad no longer wanted to look at her. Mrs. Ikenna would always console her, telling her things would get better.
But they never did.
Soon after, Mrs. Ikenna suffered a huge loss in her business. Her sales dropped drastically. Everything seemed orchestrated—like life was attacking them from every side. They could no longer afford Lisa’s school fees, so she was forced to drop out of school.
The family kept hoping things would be fine, but the more they hoped, the deeper they sank into pain. The frustration was overwhelming. Whenever Lisa’s parents walked down the road, they would get lost in thought, wondering how their once-perfect life had fallen apart. Their friends didn’t help. They were broke, poor, and alone.
Lisa was always at the receiving end. She was still a child and couldn’t understand what was happening.
Then came the day that broke her completely.
One morning, Mrs. Ikenna told Lisa that she and her husband were going out. They left her at home and drove away. Hours later, news came that they had been involved in a fatal accident.
At first, Lisa thought it was a cruel joke. How was she supposed to accept that she would never see her parents again? Her world shattered instantly. It was heartbreaking—this marked the beginning of her journey of sorrow.
No relative wanted to take her in. She was left to fend for herself at just ten years old. With nowhere to go and no one to turn to, she went into the streets and began begging for food. Whatever little she collected, she used to buy something to eat. She was barely surviving.
As the saying goes, there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
One day, while begging as usual, a car pulled up beside her. A woman stepped out and looked at the frail, tired girl. Lisa had not been eating well; she looked weak and malnourished.
The woman asked why a little girl like her was begging. With tears in her eyes, Lisa told her life story. The woman was deeply moved. She told Lisa that it was okay—that from that day, her suffering would end.
She introduced herself as Mrs. Joy Adibe and took Lisa home. She washed her, fed her healthy food, and gave her warmth she had not felt in years.
Mrs. Adibe and her husband had been married for ten years without a child. When Mr. Adibe returned and saw Lisa, he was immediately drawn to her. His wife told him everything, and they both felt great compassion for the young girl. They decided to adopt her as their own.
When Lisa heard this, she was overjoyed. She knew her suffering was finally over. She embraced her new family with gratitude and prayed that her parents would rest in peace, knowing she was now safe and loved.
Lisa snapped out of her painful memories and remained grateful for everything.
The End.
